Application of the Escape Room as a strategy for learning leadership soft skills
Description: Nursing training requires the development of skills, which is emphasized as one of the competencies in Brazilian National Curricular Guidelines (in Portuguese, DCNs – Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais) for nursing practice: leadership. Studying and recognizing the different leadership styles during the nursing course will help in the initial performance as a professional.
Therefore, it is possible that universities adopt different strategies during the teaching-learning process to facilitate nursing students’ understanding of the importance of this competency in professional practice. Thus, this project aims to create training spaces, helping to socialize knowledge, perceptions and exchange experiences among employees and administrative technicians, with professors and students acting as intermediaries in discussions about leadership soft skills, providing opportunities, through gamification, for the development of a set of practices to support workers’ behaviors in favor of engagement and integration, in addition to bringing gains to students in terms of understanding reality.
Games encourage social interaction, favor emotional aspects and stimulate motor and cognitive skills that are important in the leadership process. The methodology will be action research, where the Escape Room game will be applied. Through puzzles and tangible challenges, students will follow strategies that will involve collaborative work, engagement, communication, decision-making, conflict management, among other essential characteristics of a successful leader.
It is expected that this project will enable discussions and reflections on leadership soft skills in the nursing course, meeting the goals of the current EEUSP Academic Project.
